Photographer

Hi! My name is Mackenzie Rukel, and I’m so glad you made it to my page! Whether you’re interested in booking a photoshoot, getting to know me a little better, or hearing my story, welcome!

My approach

My brand is built around capturing the heart (pulse) behind every moment while helping you feel confident in front of the camera (pose). Whether it's the passion behind your sport, the people you love most, or the milestones that deserve to be remembered, my goal is to preserve those moments in a way that feels authentic to you.

You might notice that my portfolio isn't limited to just one style of photography, and that's completely intentional. I didn't start Pulse and Pose Photography to fit into a single category; I started it because I genuinely love photography in all its forms. From sports and seniors to couples, portraits, events, and just-for-fun sessions, I love bringing each client's unique vision to life.

Growing up as a dancer, I spent years in front of the camera, so I know exactly what it feels like to be the one posing. That experience has shaped the way I photograph today. My goal is to create an environment where you can relax, be yourself, and actually enjoy being in front of the camera while we create memories you'll look back on for years to come.

A little more on my journey

While I photograph much more than sports, the opportunities I've had in athletics have played a huge role in my growth as a photographer. Every session and every event has taught me something new, but one experience has truly shaped my journey more than any other.

Kentucky Hockey club

Lead Team Division 1 Photographer

After spending my freshman year applying for every media pass I could, covering as many games as possible, and constantly pushing myself to improve, I saw the moments I wanted to capture differently. My goal became more than just taking photos; it was about preserving the raw emotion of the game so players and their families could relive those memories long after the play.

I'm incredibly grateful for the journey that led me here, and it's an honor to now serve as the team's lead Division I photographer.
